1.5 generation. $69 This thesis examines the term “1.5 generation” Asian Americans and their transformation stages. My thesis work is inspired by my personal experiences as well as the experiences, realizations, and imagination of others. A 1.5 generation Asian American’s awareness of his or her identity differs by the stages (teenage years; university years; professional life) of their transformation. My thesis is the story of my personal journey to acquiring my new identity while simultaneously educating those around me as to who I had now become: a member of the 1.5 generation Asian American community.;My works are influenced by Bill Viola, Namjun Paik, Valerie Soe, and Tony Cokes. The main medium in the series 1.5 is digitized video art published online. This 1.5 generation concept could not be explained in one piece unless I made an entire documentary movie with full narration. The final realization of this concept required my work to be broken down into several constituent subjects. Making a series out of my work helped me to sketch out the concept of who I was and who I had now become. The transformation stages gave me more freedom to express the main theme.;I consider this work a portrait of my journey through cultural exploration. If I continue working on this project, I am confident additional stages of cultural transformation for me, as well as other 1.5 generation Asian Americans, lie ahead. People can experience discrimination if they do not try to find their self-worth, but they will experience freedom if they discover their true identity. |

It follows a symmetrical plan with two apses, that is characteristic of Ottonic Romanesque architecture in Old Saxony . After renovations and extensions in the 11th, 12th and 14th centuries, the cathedral was completely destroyed during an air raid on 22 March 1945, and rebuilt from 1950 to 1960.The cathedral is famous for its many works of art. These include:In the middle of the cathedral’s courtyard stands the Gothic Anne’s chapel (Annenkapelle ), erected in 1321, which remained nearly undamaged during World War II. Also, climbing the wall of the cathedral’s apse is the legendary 1000-year-old rosebush, which symbolizes the prosperity of the city of Hildesheim. According to the legend, as long as the bush flourishes, Hildesheim will not decline. In 1945 allied bombers destroyed the cathedral, yet the bush survived.
